Unity

November 2007
Psalm 133 - How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down on the collar of his robe. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.

This is a very familiar Psalm, but I want to point out a couple of things. First of all, David moves straight from talking about unity into talking about anointing. He also points out how the anointing oil was poured onto Aaron’s head and then flowed onto all of his body which was in alignment beneath his head. Obviously unity and proper alignment are keys to anointing. Now let me show you a couple of other things: first of all, II Corinthians 2:10-11 says, When you forgive this man, I forgive him, too. And when I forgive whatever needs to be forgiven, I do so with Christ’s authority for your benefit, so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes; secondly, Hebrews 12:14-15 says, Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. I simply want to remind us all that in this exciting time of change and expansion, satan is looking for a crack in the door to slither in and stop the flow of the anointing. He can do that by causing division among us. If satan can cause us to grieve the Holy Spirit, so that He withdraws from us, he will have accomplished his goal… stopping the flow.

Read this! “Speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, because we are members of one another. Be angry and do not sin. Don't let the sun go down on your anger, and don't give the Devil an opportunity. The thief must no longer steal. Instead, he must do honest work with his own hands, so that he has something to share with anyone in need. No rotten talk should come from your mouth, but only what is good for the building up of someone in need, in order to give grace to those who hear. And don't grieve God's Holy Spirit, who sealed you for the day of redemption. All bitterness, anger and wrath, insult and slander must be removed from you, along with all wickedness. And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Ephesians 4:25-32 (HCSB)
I am not aware of anything at all that has happened; in fact, it seems as if everyone has done their very best to make our crossing the best it can be. I’m simply saying we must guard against getting “comfortable” and remain aware of satan’s schemes. There is a rising tide in our church, and he is desperate to find some way to stop it. Let’s protect the anointing!
